The old me who wanted to exceed expectations is the new me who finds joy in achieving simple milestones. The old me who wanted to excel in everything at once, is the new me who is striving to find focus in my own passion. This is something we all can relate to. One for all. As we can't wear all the clothes at the same time. We can't excel in everything at once. But I didn't understand it all of a sudden until one day when my own stress defeated me and gave me the most important life life lesson ever. Let me take you through time to a chapter of my life... named. Jack of all trades, but a master of none. Class 10th. Even though... this class seems to be the most important and challenging class. I will refer to it as the most stressful one. When your goal is to be the most perfect, surpassing all the expectations set by your parents, teachers, and you yourself. April 2nd. The challenge first day. This is the beginning of a fresh race, the academic race. Striving for excellence in all areas, including public speaking, academics, student council and whatnot. Surprisingly, I was able to manage all of these until one day, September 15th. the day that changed my life and begin my midtum's and I, who was riding more than one boat, was thrown out of all of them. Turning the page. My stress period starts. I was left out, not able to cope even with studies. I left everything. Went on a break only to realize that I was a jack of all trades, but a master of none. But why? Why am I even standing here peeling the story of my life, layer by layer? In a nutshell, we hold on too tight. To the hope that things will go exactly as we imagine them to be. And when our imagination doesn't represent the reality, then we complicate our lives to no end. It was crushing and disappointing when things didn't work out the way I wanted them to be, but I had to let go of some things and it took me a lot of courage and time. Let me take you to another recent chapter of my life. Let go. 17th August 2023, The day was Thursday. Results were announced for the student council. I wasn't even nominated. Standing in the middle of the assembly ground tears rolling down my cheeks. I didn't deserve this. The lateral line being played in repetition in my mind. But the same day something happened. My father's one line that changed my whole perspective towards the life as I used to see it. As I am going to quote this line, I want each one of you to think about something that is holding you back. He quoted, this was God's will. Maybe something more precious than this is waiting for you ahead. So let go of what you can't control. And this quote turned all the mirrors around me. Let me give you a reality check. How many of you have felt so stressed lately? How many of you? have that one goal to achieve only to be deviated from your path? Probably each one of us. Life is like a sand in our fist. The more we will try to hold it harder, the more it will slip through our fingers. We can't try to control everything too much or we will lose what we have. Instead, change your position, change your method and let go of some things. Allow me to share with you a three step method. First of all, accept that it was a mistake. It was a mistake to hold on to something that does not add value to your life. Secondly, don't try too hard. Well, some of us are. Some of us are so obsessed with trying too hard. And this is exactly what my problem was. I tried to do everything on my plate and ended up mending their results in my own way. This is going to do nothing but detach you from yourself. Instead. Take time, let go of some things and let time decide what to do for you. Thirdly, always remember winning isn't everything. Sometimes times the biggest win that you can give to yourself is to successfully and completely let go of something that does not add value to your life. Always remember, letting go is not easy and believe me, it's never going to be easy. But sometimes it’s the only thing that can set you free to embark on newer and bigger accomplishments. So let go of what is holding you back. Thank you.
