Reviewer: Maxime Sobrier Blurry lines. Bold opportunity. The age of AI. Yep. That's me. The year is 2014. I
can't remember correctly now. Um. I was in Infanta. Probably the best school in the world. Um, will allow them to argue that later.
But this was a time where technology, as we have it now, did not exist. We literally would have
our parents ask us, why are you spending so
much time on your phone? Are you going to feed your family
with YouTube or Facebook? I hope our parents ask us
that same question today because now we have an answer, don't we? And the answer is, of course, yes, because there are job
titles such as TikToker, YouTuber or the most
famous one influencer. Very recently,
one of the biggest YouTubers in Ghana was awarded
a diplomatic passport. I hope you all saw it. What did he do?
He simply travels the world, take videos and uploads them on YouTube
hoping that people would watch. Now he's paid a lot
of money just to do this. A lot of people also get paid tens
of thousands of dollars to influence products. I have never understood what
that influence really is, but whatever pays you legally. Keep it up. A few years ago,
for there to be a surgery, you would need the surgeons
to be there in person to actually cut you open with your hands. Just a few months back, we saw a team of surgeons
perform a surgery on a patient without
even being physically present. And all of this is made
possible via technology. Now, when you ask students
to write an essay. They go to the most the most
famous or most used platform. ChatGPT. And they say, hi chat. Help me do x, y, z. And a lot of people
think that that is cheating. The students would say,
oh, it is only helping. The real question is what is the opportunity
that AI is offering? And to the lecturers who think
that they can use AI detectors to see if a student use ChatGPT? The students know about it is true,
there is a platform called Anti-GPT. Right? That tricks everybody and
makes you think it’s humanized. There's even robots that allows
you to do the same thing. The lines have been blurred.
But that presents new opportunities. The lines have been blurred
in a way that now doctors are able to draft their own legal contracts, and lawyers are able to upload
their symptoms and seek for prescription. Now, I know you think I made a mistake
with that sentence but that is exactly what I mean.
Doctors draft their own legal contracts. I would never advise anybody to do that. Expertise has never been lost. You should always talk to a lawyer
if you are drafting a legal contract, And you should always talk to a doctor
if you seek your prescription. But the question is,
what is possible? That is also me. I think I was sick here,
but I was building a platform. I was building a platform with the hopes
that thousands of people will use it. Today, I can say that we have achieved
over a thousand people using our platform regularly, and tens
of thousands of people in the pipeline. We recently got the opportunity
to speak to the students in a high school in Ghana, and 3000 of those students are on board in our platform and will
be using it very soon. And I can only do that with the help
of AI because believe it or not, I can't write a single line
of code without AI. Three platforms or softwares I want
to talk to you about today. The first one. Great. Run the software
or platform that I built. It helps students study smarter, score higher by facilitating
their understanding and helping them generate exam
questions that they can solve again and again until
they have mastery over the course. The next one remotely an AI powered
platform that connects job seekers with opportunities all over the world. And the last one,
Replit, that enables anybody, anywhere in the world
literally build a website or a software at any point in time. You don't need a team of developers. There was a time where if you want
to build a website or a simple software, you would need to assemble
a team of developers and hope against all hope
that they are able to deliver on time. Those days are long behind us. They are so far behind us
if you want to build a website today, all you had to do was go
to Replit or Lovable or even ChatGPT and say. Hi chat,
I would like to build a website. Can you help me? It will ask
you a series of questions and you can do that the same
$10,000 that's a web developer in the US can charge. You can charge that too. For grade one, as the founder
and creator of it, I can say that it has enabled us to hire,
create and grow in Ghana. We are only a few months old and we’ve had the opportunity to hire
a few Ghanaians right here in Africa to help us grow our mission
and help us reach students all over. The question is, what if every single
Ghanaian builds a software platform? Then maybe we would have solved
the problem of unemployment, wouldn't we? His Majesty the King of Morocco said
digital technology is a structural shift that can create more
jobs and investment opportunities. Now, if you would allow me, I would stress on this a little
bit because it's very important that we understand that AI isn't
simply ChatGPT as students would believe. AI isn't simply edit the picture. For me, AI isn't simply how can I make
this food or create this recipe for me? AI, amongst other things it can do, also has the ability to contribute
effectively to the economy of a country. Let's look at ChatGPT. The mother company is known as OpenAI. Every single month, people who use ChatGPT in a professional way
pay $20 a month to use that platform. There are millions of people
using this platform. Let's even imagine that There are only 1
million people using ChatGPT. That means every single
month they make $20 million. Now, Ghana, a country in West Africa, has been battling
with forex exchange problems because of how we have to sell
our natural resources just to get forex into the country. Imagine we created a platform
similar to ChatGPT. It might be great. It might be remotely. It might be S32. It might be any platform. It might even be a platform
that somebody in this room creates that helps us rake in millions
of dollars every single month. We would have solved the economic problem
that we have currently in Ghana. According to data, AI could actually
add about $1.2 trillion to Africa's GDP. That is a lot of money. Ladies and gentlemen, let us all now be quiet as though
that's not a lot of money. The richest man in Africa is currently
valued at about 24 billion. This starts with a T. Currently, 78% of companies
globally use AI. What does that mean for you and I?
It means that soon or later this percentage is going to increase
whether we like it or yes. The good thing is, you and I can learn
any AI skill that we need to today, and often it's for free. You don't even have to pay a dime.
ChatGPT has its free version, which I'm sure all of us
have abused so many times. Some of you even wait
for it to reset every 24 hours just so you can use the best version.
And I can see all the guilty ones here. So the real question what
will we do with this blur? The lines have been blurred. Expertise seems to have been lost,
but what will you and I do? A few recommendations for myself. Assuming you forget
everything that you heard here today, which I hope you don't. Please don't forget this. The future belongs not
to those who fear the confusion, but to those who build in spite of it. AI, as many would say,
is here to take the jobs of all of us. Some people think in a few
years we'll all be jobless. But the data proves very different. The data shows that today, Even when
you're in your first year in a university, or whether you're in high school
or whether you are in your post-doctorate program, you can simply do so many other things that you
previously wouldn't be able to. Today, a young Ghanaian like myself
all the way in a country called Morocco. Or should I say a kingdom called Morocco?
In a city called Marrakesh, I'm able to build a software
that can serve thousands of people. And I know that in a few
months or in a few weeks, we would even be in the
hundreds of thousands. If I can do that with the help of AI. You should all ask yourself a simple
question what can I build? Not just for myself, but to serve
the people around me, to serve humanity? And we all have a charge as Africans,
as Ghanaians, as citizens of the world. What are we contributing? Firstly to our families, secondly
to our country, thirdly to the world. If you can build a platform,
if you can build a website, if you can create a solution
that serves everybody, no matter where they are,
this is your charge. Go and do it. And if you ever
get stuck, the famous prelude. Hey, chat. How do I do this? And remember, if your chatGPT
has reached its limits, all you have to do is wait 24 hours
to use the professional one again. This is my charge to all of you. We are
in an era where everything is possible. We are in a time where things
that we often dreamed were just fictions are now a reality. Will you take advantage of it? Or will you fall
into the category of fear, saying that AI is going to take my place? Or will you create something? Help your economy, help your family, help your fellow mankind to make
sure that we all prosper? Blurry lines, bold opportunities. We are now in the age of AI. Thank you.
